You’ll need to book your ferry tickets to Martha’s Vineyard as soon as possible if you are bringing your car. Ferries fill up quickly, so please make your ferry reservations here at the Steamship Authority web site as soon as your plans are finalized. Here is a link that provides you with information about getting to the island, whether you’re coming by ferry or flying into the Vineyard or into Logan, Boston and then taking the bus. You might find this especially useful if you’ve not traveled to the island before.

Transportation on-island: With our up-island West Tisbury location, it is quite helpful to have a car with you if you plan to tour the island and regularly visit other towns.

Information About Our Location

An up-island escape, a world away

Lambert’s Cove Inn is in a private and pristine, uncrowded part of the island. We are located up a winding road in West Tisbury, up-island, a little less than a 15-minute drive from the ferry in Vineyard Haven. Our area is considered the ‘gateway’ to the more rural side of Martha’s Vineyard.

Our supremely private location offers you the opportunity to settle in for a peaceful visit. Enjoy our 8-acres of grounds, our beautiful gardens, and our pool.

Visit our restaurant and bistro for flavorful menus and hospitality. Think of Lambert’s Cove Inn as your private, exclusive compound.

Getting around the island / Transportation options

If you have your car when staying with us, you’ll have easy access to the island. If you do not have a car, please know that we are off the beaten path, and you will need to use taxis, Ubers, and Lyfts to find your way around the island efficiently. Ubers and Lyfts can be very expensive and are not as reliable as taxi services.

Because of our location, the closest restaurant or grocery store is 2 miles away in West Tisbury and we do not offer lunch, so we recommend making plans in advance for meals between breakfast and dinner.

We recommend using Bluefish Taxi service and advise that you should book a pickup/ drop off time prior to leaving or call at least 45 minutes in advance of your departure to ensure they can arrive on time. Their number is: (508) 627-7373

Car rentals are also available on the island and we recommend MV Auto Rentals which is island owned and operated. Their number is: (508) 696-5300 and website is mvautorentals.com

There is an island wide bus system with stops and routes in each town. You can find the bus schedules and fares at vineyardtransit.com or call (508) 693-9440

The nearest stop to Lambert’s Cove Inn is across the street from the Lambert’s Cove Beach.

For transportation to and from the bus stop, we will gladly drive you in our golf cart or you may walk or bike as you please. Please be aware that our golf cart cannot travel on the public roads after sunset.
